7 Belated Birthday Poems

Fog Lifting with Sun Showing through Trees and Bushes
Belated birthday poems can come in real handy when we forget someone's birthday.

Which can happen if we don't get a reminder.

It can be embarrassing ... but let's remember we're human, we're not perfect, it can happen to the best of us.

Instead of worrying, let's make the best of the situation.

"Better late than never." Somebody's waiting to hear from you.

Don't know what to say? Need some good ideas? That's why I wrote these poems.

229. I Forgot

     by Paul Berchtold, March, 2012

I'm getting old, maybe senile,
I forgot to write in a while.
Time went on by, flew right on past,
I hope this failure is the last !
What is it I'm trying to say ?
A happy belated birthday!

230. Finding the Words

     by Paul Berchtold, March, 2012

Really now ! Have I lost my mind,
Everywhere looking to find,
The right words, I'm sorry to say,
I forgot your… Happy Birthday !

231. Without Excuse

     by Paul Berchtold, March, 2012

Excuses, excuses! Uh oh!,
I have none, I honestly know,
It's my own fault. Okay, okay!
Please now accept ... Happy Birthday!

232. Belated Birthday Limerick

     by Paul Berchtold, March, 2012

My mind confused, in a muddle,
Lost deeper than a big puddle.
I forgot to say,
Happiest Birthday!
May nothing more me befuddle.

233. Better Late Than Never

     by Paul Berchtold, March, 2012

I forgot the task, my face I mask,
It's redder than a beet.
Your birthday passed, in some time past,
Which I forgot to greet!

While I am sad, still I am glad
For this phrase so clever.
Now that I know, I'll simply go,
"Better late than never."

Happy Birthday ... at last!

234. Looking Back

     by Paul Berchtold, March, 2012

The calendar I cannot change,
I cannot re-arrange the year,
But something has happened so strange,
I forgot your birthday, dear.

The day you're born is set in stone,
The year goes by in it's own way,
It is the fault of me alone,
I forgot about your birthday.

I wish I could turn the clock back,
But no matter how much I pray,
It doesn't happen. Pardon, my lack,
Still I wish you ... Happy Birthday !!!

235. Running Late

     by Paul Berchtold, March, 2012

Busy, busy running late,
I'm now stuck to my own fate,
I forgot to simply say,
A very Happy Birthday!

When to Use Belated Birthday Poems

If an important birthday goes by, and then you remember, it's easy to want to just let it pass by.

You could just let it go. Or, you could fess up.

Especially if it is a family member or close friend, who has been expecting to hear from you.

O well, make the best of it.

If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

That's why I wrote these poems, to help you make the best of the situation.

Most people will understand the situation. In fact, your belated birthday poem, wishes and greetings may come as a pleasant surprise.

Aren't you glad God has patience with us, understanding our idiosyncrasies?

Thank your stars!
